This year, we’re pleased to welcome singer/songwriter Spencer LaJoye for a guest performance. Spencer LaJoye is making queer indie folk music for everyone. They are a coast-to-coast singer/songwriter and vocal loop artist with Midwest roots, a classically-trained violinist with an inner theater kid’s love of group choreography, and a student of Americana music with a theology degree hanging in their studio. The 2021 Kerrville Songwriting Competition winner and 2024 Songwriter Serenade winner has been writing and touring their autobiographical folk songs for over a decade, but their viral 2021 anthem “Plowshare Prayer” secured them a permanent place in hearts and households across the world, as well as a peculiar career as a veracious songsmith with an unshakeable pastoral presence. Charming and banter-heavy, Spencer’s performances keep audiences laughing one moment and weeping the next.

Pride Camp is a queer-centered, interreligious, multi-spiritual, and ecumenical camp organized by and for 2SLGBTQIA+ adults. Pride Camp invites 2SLGBTQIA+ beloveds from any faith community or spiritual background to be in community, renew their spirits, and strengthen their faith and spirituality as a tool and act of resistance against experiences of oppression and marginalization in our world.

This year, our programming is focused on understanding our faith, spirituality, personal, and collective histories as resources for sustaining us in our commitments to justice and liberation for all people.

Who is Pride Camp for?

Pride Camp is for 2LGBTQIA+ adults aged 18 years or older, including those who may be questioning their identity. (To our allies: we love you, and we ask that you sit this one out. You can support Pride Camp by donating to the Pride Camp fund. Click here to donate.)

Pride Camp is also for 2SLGBTQIA+ adults curious about or connected to their own faith and/or spirituality. Pride Camp is open to anyone regardless of their faith or spiritual background. For transparency, the majority of our organizing team comes from or are presently connected to protestant Christian backgrounds. These include (but are not limited to) the ELCA, UMC, UCC, and Episcopal Church. While each has their own unique relationship to faith and spirituality, much of our programming may reflect these lineages.

Where does Pride Camp take place?

Pride Camp takes place in Montana. Our location typically changes each year. This year we will be on Flathead Lake. The specific location of Pride Camp is kept confidential and is given to participants after they’ve registered and paid a $50 deposit.

What happens at Pride Camp? (Aka, what should I expect?)

Lots of things happen at Pride Camp! We eat together, play together, learn together, worship together, and more. Our schedule is designed with rest and relaxation in mind, meaning there are times for scheduled programming and plenty of time for you to choose-your-own adventure. You might play games with a group of new pals, you might spend the afternoon hiking or kayaking, taking a nap…(almost) anything goes! Since we’re an adult camp, you’re not required to participate in any of the camp activities, but we think you’ll get more out of your Pride Camp experience if you show up to at least some of the scheduled programming.

More details about our programming & schedule will be shared here when it’s available.

Should you choose or need to go off-site for any reason, we ask that you let an organizer know your leave time, where you’re going, and when you plan to be back. We care about your safety and wellbeing!

We use tiered registration for Pride Camp in acknowledgement of the economic disparity in queer community, particularly for those who may be transgender; disabled; Black, Indigenous, people of color; or those who hold multiply marginalized identities.

A brief description of our tiers is provided below. Participants are encouraged to pay in at the tier that best describes their personal financial experience. Scholarships are available for those who need additional financial assistance.
