Friday, September 9 at 6:30 pm

The MT-NWy Association and Conference UCC will hold an Ecclesiastical Council on September 9, 2022 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in a hybrid format. Delegates can attend by Zoom or in person at Great Fall First Congregational UCC (2900 9th Avenue South) to interview and vote on granting Sara MacGilvra Branom United Church of Christ ordination authorization.

Sara Branom is a hospital chaplain and the sabbatical supply pastor at Great Falls First Congregational UCC. Sara’s ordination paper is available at the link below. Please call or email the Conference office if you need printed copies mailed to you.

In the United Church of Christ, the authority to ordain ministers and to grant ministerial standing is given to Associations. In our case, the Montana-Northern Wyoming Conference acts as an association. Our Church and Ministry Commission has been meeting with Sara Branom as a Member in Discernment over the course of multiple years in order to guide her preparation and call to authorized ministry. Sara prepared an ordination portfolio for review by the Church and Ministry Commission.

Having met on August 3, 2022, Sara Branom is now recommended as a candidate for an Ecclesiastical Council. Delegates from local churches are invited to the Ecclesiastical Council to examine Sara’s ordination portfolio and to ask questions about her faith, practices, and readiness to serve as an authorized minister or chaplain, and then vote to approve or disapprove her for ordination.

Registration for this meeting closes on Wednesday, August 31, 2022
